uSwitch

Who is uSwitch?
uSwitch is a free and impartial service which helps you to compare prices on gas and electricity, digital television, home telephone and mobiles phone and switch to a cheaper supplier.

How is uSwitch impartial?
uSwitch has signed up to the energywatch voluntary code which stipulates that all price comparison services must contain prices from all suppliers and be fully impartial in the provision of information.

How do I contact uSwitch if I have a problem on the website?
You can contact the uSwitch Customer Service Desk on:
Tel: 0845 601 2856
Fax: 020 7233 5933
Email: customerservices@uswitch.com

How much does it cost to change supplier or obtain a new service using uSwitch?
Nothing - our service is free. We are paid a small commission by the new supplier when you use our service to switch. This does not increase the price you pay to the supplier, nor does it have a bearing on the ranking of the suppliers in our results.

Will I pay uSwitch any money?
No - uSwitch will not take any money from your bank account or charge you a fee for using the service. We will however need your bank and/or credit card details if you decide to pay by direct debit or sign up for a digital TV or home telephony deal.

Are your prices kept up to date?
uSwitch is informed by suppliers in advance of any price or tariff changes and will ensure that the site is continually updated accordingly.

How do the uSwitch calculators work?
The calculators find the best deal for you, according to your needs, within the area you live. Your needs may be based on either price or service requirements. You will need to answer a few simple questions about your requirements, your preferred payment method and any other specific service requirements you may have. We then search our database for the services available in your area, according to these specific needs. Once you have been presented with the best deals available within the area you live, you can obtain or change to another supplier online.

How will my new supply or change of suppliers be processed?
Once you have decided to make a change, we will ask you for some personal details, such as your name, address, current supplier information and, where necessary, your banking details. This information will then be passed on to your chosen supply company to enable you to obtain your new service or change your existing service. Your chosen supply company will handle the details of the contract.

Is the uSwitch website secure?
Yes - the uSwitch web pages that show or ask for your switch details or personal information are protected using the latest Secure Socket Layer [SSL] technology and reside on a secure web server. This encrypts the information passing between you and the uSwitch website. Encryption is a process by which we use software to scramble your switch and personal information so that it is unreadable by anyone but uSwitch and cannot be intercepted by a third party. We also use stringent procedures to manage the storage of data and follow strict rules in the disclosure of information to prevent unauthorised access. The uSwitch site is endorsed by BT Trustwise and uSwitch are registered with the UK Data Protection Commission. Your details are therefore protected by the Data Protection ACt 1998.

Will uSwitch give my information to anyone else without me knowing?
uSwitch does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. In the future we may give this information to trustworthy third parties that offer products and services you may be interested in. We will only do this if you tick the opt in box on the website prior to submitting your personal information.
